Don Hayes Millipede DVD

    After less than two months since the first DVD release of a top player's recent performance (Brandon Erickson on Star Wars), CAGDC proudly presents the second such DVD release.  This time, it's a player who is a member of the CAGDC Hall of Fame  -  Don Hayes.  His conquest this time was the Atari title Millipede, and on December 26, 2004, Don made a new world record score of 10,627,331 points.  This was actually over 50% higher than the previous record of 6,995,962, set on 11-21-1983 by James Schneider, thus making this an extraordinary performance.  Even though the game took just under eight hours, I've been able, through advanced compression techniques, to fit the entire performance on one DVD.  Fortunately, the quality is comparable to a regular-grade VHS tape, meaning little degradation is noticeable on the average tv.

    So that you can get a preview of his superb performance, I've set up a clip below that shows a mid-level part of his game - just click the video window, or the play button, to start it up.  Of course, be assured that the DVD has markedly better detail and quality than this small preview does !  In addition, the DVD is marked off in 6 minute length chapters, to allow for ease of skipping ahead in the game.  After Don winds things down, he reads off his triumphant score, and zooms the camera in to prove it.  Check back soon for some exclusive commentary from him, which will appear below the video clip.
